Claude Personal Finance can make managing money smarter, but it requires connecting bank account

Managing finances often means switching between banking apps, checking card statements, and manually calculating expenses. Anthropic wants to make that process easier with Personal Finance in Claude. Connect your bank or card account, ask questions in everyday language and Claude analyzes spending, tracks upcoming bills, and identifies unusual transactions without users having to crunch the numbers themselves.
Access is read-only, so Claude can’t move or invest money. Personal Finance in Claude is rolling out this week to Pro Max and Ultra subscribers in the US.
What can Claude Personal Finance do with your accounts
The money trail: Once connected, Claude can answer questions about where your money goes each month, how much you have left before payday, and whether you are spending more than your income. It can spot double charges, surprise fees, and bills that have crept up, along with explaining terms like APR and total interest you have paid.
The AI assistant can even generate spending charts, payment calendars, and build custom financial dashboards that you can update as needed.

Privacy and safety: Anthropic is using Plaid to connect financial accounts, so Claude never sees your banking passwords. It just sees the account names, last four-digit balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. Chats in the personal finance hub aren’t used to train Anthropic’s models either. You can unlink an account anytime.
Anthropic says that Claude can make mistakes, so important figures should still be verified with your bank.
The bigger picture: For users juggling multiple financial accounts, Claude could make everyday money management considerably easier. However, this is a first step, not a financial advisor, so it isn’t good for investment advice.
